One of the most extraordinary and rewarding educational programs in the nation takes place each year right here in south-central Indiana. MiniPlay invites students in grades 3 through high school to explore their imagination and proudly display it for public consumption. In the fall, youth submit original 10-minute plays to BPP's annual Mini Play competition. The following winter and early spring, students produce, direct, and perform the winning plays at the MiniPlay Camp and Festival. Visit the BPP website at www.newplays.org for instructions on contest guidelines and how to submit a play for consideration. You can also check out how MiniPlay adheres to many of Indiana's academic standards for language arts. In the past 24 years, over 8,850 plays have been submitted to MiniPlay and were read by nearly 340 judges, representing the BPP, local schools and media, Indiana University and the Bloomington community.

Performances: July 2 & 3, 2010

The BPP is calling all cool cats to be a part of the coolest camp for kids ages 8 - 12. Campers will write and perform in plays developed during the full day camp. But there's a catch - every play must incorporate the same theme, a common line of dialogue and a common prop...but no one will know what the theme, line, and prop are until the moment they are to write. Camper's imaginations are challenged constantly while they create one of a kind new theatre.

Participants in YMT experience the whole process of a real summer stock production from audition to the final bow. Students learn physical and vocal exercises, choral singing, choreography, and scene blocking. The staff of YMT is committed to developing each participant's musical theatre skills and concepts. Emphasis is on each person's intellectual, social, physical, creative and artistic growth. Past productions include shows in the popular Broadway Jr. series: Fiddler on the Roof, Once on This Island, Bugsy Malone, Into the Woods, Disney's Aladdin, Seussical, Willy Wonka, and Guys and Dolls. YMT has even performed Peter Pan. Cast members receive a speaking, singing and dance part and every cast member contributes to the success of the production. This full day camp fills up quickly so be sure to sign up once registration opens October 1, 2009.
